President of the Week!

It's that time of the week again...

This President has been an absolute pleasure to work with so far and I am very excited for the year ahead!

Giorgio Michael - Men's Lacrosse

Sport has always been a big part my life, growing up I played football, hockey and cricket at school and for local clubs, you’d never really find me indoors. But I was determined to get into something completely different at Christ Church and lacrosse ticked all the boxes. I’d only ever seen it played in American films but it only took the taster-day in first year for me to be hooked and I was ready for the challenge of a brand new sport. Now in just over two years I’ve gone from a clueless fresher to President of the club and it’s something I’m very proud of.

I had the President role in mind early on and as my love for the sport grew it became my main goal to get elected for my third year to be in the position to make a difference and bring changes that would leave the club in strong shape to keep progressing in the future. My committee and I had goals that we set out over the summer that we wanted to achieve this year, to enable us to be successful on and off the pitch. I’d like to thank them quickly here, because it’s due to the hard work we’ve put in together at the start of this year that some of those have already been reached. Men’s lacrosse for the first time finally have their own dedicated home pitch and with over 30 official members this year that’s a record for the club. With growth like that maintained, my personal goal of seeing CCCU Men’s Lacrosse with 2 official BUCS teams can definitely be achieved in the very near future.

Lacrosse is growing rapidly in the UK year on year and the huge progression of our club is a testament to that. It’s been a pleasure being a part of Team Christ Church and playing alongside all the boys at the club and I’m looking forward to my last year here being our most successful one yet.
