James Mann - Swimming 

I have always loved sport and throughout school had a go at pretty much everything. Swimming however has always been my number one having trained with my home club in Devon since I was 8. I always planned on joining the Swim Team at University and spent to whole of Freshers’ Fayre with tunnel vision looking for them.

Since joining in first year I have competed in 3 BUCS National Championships and 2 Varsity’s, I was so happy to be picked in first year and I have loved competing in both. In first year I had my eyes set on Men’s Captain and would never have dreamed of running for President unless the committee had suggested I should. I’m so glad that I ran though as I had the best year as President last year and I this year’s shaping up to be amazing as well. I’ve been so lucky to be surrounded by an amazing and dedicated committee.

This year we hope to take swimmers to train at the Stratford Olympic pool and compete at the BUCS National Longcourse Championships in February which is something we've never done as a club before. We are also trying to organise a couple of charity events in the second term which will hopefully be a fun and rewarding. Ultimately though we’re working to put on the training required in order for the team to put in a strong performance at Varsity and hopefully take the pool back.
