Sports Tour Blog

The beginning of April was that exciting time of the year again where University Sports Teams up and down the country make their way to either Lloret de mar, Croatia or Italy. For a week filled with sun, playing sport and socialising with other teams it is definitely a great uni life experience and one of those must-do things that students do at university.

This year I had the pleasure to go to Rimini in Italy with our Women’s Rugby Team and were joined by Men’s and Women’s Lacrosse, C4 Dance and Pole Fitness.

The trip started with a long 22 hour coach journey which usually consists of watching a marathon of films to get you through. Once there, the days consisted of playing touch rugby on the beach against various other Rugby teams. This year we became particularly close with Birmingham Uni Women’s Rugby Team and are looking to organise friendly matches with them in the future and expand our networks.

The evening time activities consisted of holding themed socials and joint socials with other teams and then going out alternating between a super club and a club in town where all universities came together.

Here are a few words from students that went along the trip:

Women’s Lacrosse - "All the girls that went on the trip have got so much closer and have really bonded as a team! Many have said that it is one of the best university weeks of the year and cannot wait for next year."

Francesca Smith "It was personally one of the best weeks for me as it really allowed us to network and talk to different universities whilst having fun."

Jollie Wheeler- "It’s such a good way to make a team closer and will show when we get back on the pitch."

Kiri Balderama - "Not only do you bond with your team but you make friends with other teams as well."

Aegean Leech - "I enjoyed being in an environment where you can just be yourself and have a few drinks with your mates. I didn't feel judged by anyone and I felt like I could really be myself."

I can't wait to go on tour next year!
