CSRfm WIN 3 NATIONAL AWARDS!

CSRfm has won three national awards in its tenth anniversary year, including Gold for Best Chart Show, Silver for Best Specialist and Bronze for Best Station.

As CSR celebrated its tenth birthday earlier this year, and following recent success at The Community Radio Awards, the station are delighted to announced it’s been nationally recognised by the Student Radio Association (SRA) for their work over the past year. Overall the station won three awards at the Indigo02 in London (09/11/17), including a Bronze for Best Student Radio Station. Over fifty stations belong to the SRA, and this award ranks CSR within the top three student radio stations in the country.

A silver award was awarded for ‘Best Specialist Programming’, with the ‘Rock on CSR’ team being recognised for their weekly Thursday night dedicated to rock and metal. Finally, the station won Gold for ‘Best Student Radio Chart Show’, a project that saw the CSR team takeover the Student Radio Chart show which is broadcast on other student and community stations across the country.

Jake Peach, CSR’s current Station Manager and presenter of the Gold winning SRA Chart Show said: “I'm very proud of the station for all of its achievements in the last year; everyone that is part of CSR has worked really hard and as a great team to make great radio. For this to be recognised amongst other student stations across the UK is fantastic!"

This has been a very successful year for CSR as we celebrate our tenth anniversary in 2017. We also picked up two awards at the I Love Student Radio Awards in April 2017, one for Aaron Cross who is CSR’s Technical Manager and another for our live music event ‘CSR Presents’. Just recently in September one of our presenters, Laura Perry, won Gold at the Community Radio Awards for her specialist music show, ‘The Urban LP’. We also got the good news that our Ofcom Community Licence has been extended and we will be continue to broadcast in Canterbury until 2022.
