Raise and Give has raised a record-breaking £37,837.63 this year for charity, smashing their target of £15,000 (an increase of 152%)!!

A massive £31,800 of this was raised by 18 students for the ‘Big Challenges’ which include volunteering with local communities in Africa, climbing Mount Kilimanjaro and trekking through Machu Picchu for the Make-A-Wish Foundation, FutureSense Foundation, Action Against Hunger and East African Playgrounds.

Another £6,000 was raised by the hard work of our sports clubs and societies, who are so dedicated to improving the lives and situations of individuals for over 20 charities in the local area and around the world.

So many of you were involved in raising money this year, with almost 100 active students in the society, not counting the many many sports club and society members that took part in fundraisers.

The East African Playgrounds team raised £215.78 through a 24-hour cycle, LGBT+ Society raised £460.54 for local trans charity, TG Pals during LGBT History Month while sports club, Pole Fitness raised £533.50 from their 1940’s Blitz event.

Sophie Dudley, President (Student Activities) said, “To have raised £37,837.63 is outstanding and I couldn’t be more proud of how far RaG has come in the past few years.

“Not only is this the most money ever raised in one year, after two years of relentless pushing, students know what RaG is and are getting involved with it!

“I think it’s so important to offer our students extra-curricular activities and working in partnership with charities like East African Playgrounds and FutureSense Foundation has meant that we have been able to send our students to climb Mount Kilimanjaro, trek through Machu Picchu and volunteer in communities in Africa.

“These once in a lifetime opportunities and experiences not only benefit the charities, but equips our students with fantastic life skills, ultimately making them more employable. Well done to every single one of our students who has been involved with fundraising this year!”

We hope that RaG continues to grow and you can raise more money for these great causes!
