So you've made it this far, whether you've just started as a student at Christ Church or returning after the summer break, pat yourself on the back but don't just rest on your laurels....

We’re here to help you get the most out of your time at university so read on and find out how to survive uni.

Make friends and join a club or society

Missed Freshers’ Fayre? Don’t worry, there’s still time to join clubs and societies and these are great ways to meet people who have the same interests as you. We have dozens of sports teams and societies, or you could even start your own!

Not convinced? Have a read of this article from The Guardian for why sports and societies are a great way to meet new people and have fun.

Don't waste money and never pay full price

Going to Uni is expensive. Fact. It may be tempting to go out every night or get kitted out head to toe in Jack Wills gear but be careful and budget so that you're not left eating value beans for the rest of the term.

Another tip is never pay full price and make the most of student discounts. NUS Extra discount cards give you discounts such as 50% off Spotify or 10% off your Co-op shop.

It’s LiftShare Week so a big pat on the back for all you brilliant people who car-share - and an opportunity for those thinking about it to give it a try and save on cash and carbon. Visit Liftshare.com now to find your potential matches.

Get involved in something bigger

You're now part of the Students' Union so have your say in how students are represented and vote in the Union Council elections from Monday 10th October.

We also run a number of campaigns which you can vote on here but we’re also looking for students to join our Campaigns Team so leave your details if you’re interested.

Look after yourself

A year is a long time so look after yourself. Some of this you can do in advance such as filling out an HC1 form to get cheaper/free dental and health care and there's lots of other advice here.

Did you know that there’s a Sexual Health drop-in clinic at the Canterbury Campus every Monday and Wednesday? Find out more here.

It's also much easier than you think to keep fit and be active. Get involved with PlaySport for just £1 a session.

Don't stay silent

If there's something frustrating you then don't just accept it. Let us know and we can help. Fill out a Challenge US form, come see us at Union on Tour, pop-in, or email hello@ccsu.co.uk.
